Pulao:

 

Pulao is a rice preparation, which is preferred by the Bengali community. To prepare pulao, it is necessary to boil the rice with a tinge of turmeric powder and then fry. Bay leaf, raisins and nuts are added to the rice with salt and sugar to taste.

Chutney:

The Bengali community has specialized in the preparation of a variety of chutneys. The tomato chutney and mango chutney are the most popular in West Bengal. To prepare tomato chutney, it is necessary to fry the sliced tomato with cumin. Adequate water is added to it and boiled. Salt and sugar is added to taste.

Fried Hilsa:

The cut pieces of the Hilsa fish is coated with turmeric and salt and fried in the heated oil. The fried fish is consumed after draining of the extra oil.

Khichdi:

The cut pieces of the potato and cauliflower are fried. Cumin seeds and bay leaf is added to it. The washed rice and the pulses is poured in the frying pan with a lot of water and the lid is put on it. When the rice is done, ghee, salt and sugar are added to taste.

Labra:

This is the preparation of mixed vegetables. The spices are fried in the pan with the vegetables. Water is added to it till it boils. Salt and sugar is added to taste.
